Disclaimer: (Archiving follows)

Reading this blog requires an IQ of 21 or higher, and one "ram"'s "memory" or better.

Several people complained that I often write about certain items as if they were universal knowledge. This claim falls into two categories: the legitimate one is when I refer to “events” in the "neighborhood", a.k.a. blogistan.
One cannot expect all readers to be familiar with all of the ins and outs of certain Jewish blogs, however famous they are.
The non-legitimate claim is when I refer to terms or historical events not widely known. I’m sorry for not being too nice, but I view it as an affront to the reader if I need to chew his food for him. Furthermore, I think it is an insult to suspect the reader not necessarily of ignorance, but of the inability or intellectual laziness to find things out for himself. In short, if you see a word or term you don’t understand, you look it up – in a search engine, a library, wherever. I’m not going to force Whakopedia’s view on this or that on anyone, and I'm not telling you where to look and what search engine to use. There was a time when I didn’t know Joe McCarthy from George McCartney, didn’t know about the Flying Dutchman and scores of other things. So I looked them up - I decided where to look and which angle to adopt.

As for the first claim – since I’m loathe to bother those for whom the intra-blogistan references are obvious, I’ll try to place footnotes. I hope you can forgive me – if not, too bad.

In chronological order:

The letter "v" denotes video, "a" denotes an audio "article". I prefer these much more to written articles, as they are far less time consuming, you can't see typos, and most of all, they're spontaneus and in my opinion give a more 'presonal' feeling. The readers/listeners, however seem to disagree with me on this...
