You Don’t Have To Be Old To Be Wise

Sometimes one can see a silver lining to a very dark cloud.
It is heartwarming to see how organizations that are at odds with one another – and quite often at each other’s throats (preferably about petty quibbles and power plays) unite in times of dire to help the clal.
So you can imagine how warm my blackened heart felt when I saw the posters of the Parnassa intitative in shul, outlining their different ways to help in difficult times.

Isn’t it great that our leaders take the time and effort to help with employment and business initiatives? And even able to put aside their ideological wars for a while to mend our scars?

Unfortunately, it only happens after the fact. How long have I been screaming about leaders ignoring the impending fiscal dangers? Why was everyone silent about abusing the system, hiring illegal aliens and living an irresponsible lifestyle of drunken sailors?
Not one poster, not one word, not one warning, and of course, chas vesholem, no union of JWF (Jewish Warring Factions) to asser –or at least warn- about the housing scam. No. The venerable rabbis sat idle as they got fat on donations from real-estate scammers. No one cared that the house of cards was bound to collapse. Not one suggested that Jewish businesses employ Jewish people to do the menial jobs – no Parnossah fund was established to fill the gap between what American workers ask and what employers pay to illegal immigrants.

But thankfully the satellite circus just rolled into town. The Council Of The Sages Of Chelm have united to help you: free gmachs to start a business – the way to help us out of the hailed “economic crisis”! That’s right raboisai, now that the water’s overhead, the free loan fund will bail out the freeloaders, and the business loan initiative will give 5 grand to those who have enough dishonest friends to co-sign the loan.
I just keep wondering, how these clairvoyants invariably fail to see what’s coming, and refuse to act before it’s too late? Are our wise rabbis in lockstep with the lowliest of politicians, or is it vice versa? So here you have it, the frum version of Obama’s Stalinist payback-ransack bill. And the same old usurpation of Jews’ love of hessed to benefit ganefs who will be the only ones to benefit from the Parnossah initiative.

Since I don’t want to be only negative, I have a few real suggestions to ease the burden & the hurt of the economic crisis:

Entice real estate owners to let people live in their houses for very cheap. There are hundreds upon hundreds of houses standing empty for over two years, yet the prices are not going down. Why? Because the owners know that their politicians will prevent the properties from being confiscated. The real estate gangs stick together to keep prices inflated. The rabbis know, but they need to make a living, too. Tell them to sell the houses at low prices instead of taxpayers having to bail them out.

Second: publish a kol korei signed by the biggest rabbis unequivocally prohibiting the hiring of illegal immigrants. Let frum people pack orders at Kosher supermarkets, and establish a fund to make up the difference between what the employer pays and what they (reasonably) expect.

Third: make all school/yeshiva operators open their books. Parents are choking, teachers are not being paid, and rosh Yeshivas are parading in brand new SUVs and go on vacations in Florida. I want to know where the money comes from. They have an obligation to pay employees before taking profits. The amount of blood, sweat and tears they invested in the yeshiva is no excuse. If you’re a ganef, you can’t be a rosh yeshiva. (ooops, all Yeshivas would have to close…)

Fourth: unconditionally and unequivocally asser to give tzedakah to unknown individuals, or without solid proof that they are entitled to collect tzedakah. I had enough of snot-nosed hassidsh kids shaking their hands in my face asking for “hacnossas kallah” – meaning their own chassunah, coming up in four years. Yes, they do it and it is totally accepted in hassidish circles. Stupid jews fund the hassidim’s shtreimels and Escalades, thinking they do a mitzvah.

Fifth: relax your insane contraceptive rules. David Twerski, the führer of new square, prohibits any and all contraception in any and all case – yes, even if it is known the couple is genetically incompatible.

Sixth: prevent multiple small businesses to compete over one small clientele instead of uniting and opening a larger one. This is mostly due to typical Jewish factioneering.

Lastly, stop the insane price gouging in frum stores. Stop the punitive rent from frum real estate moguls, and tell shopkeepers you’ll discourage your parishioners from patronize them if they don’t sell for a fair price. I’m willing to pay pay 2%-6% more for clothing in a frum store instead of the mall. But not 10%-40%, that’s insane.

Finally – can someone tell me why all the sponsors on the bottom of the posters were from the food industry? 5 brownie points for the right answer.

Johnny The Fox vs. Fool's Gold

I was very pleasantly surprised to read Jonathan Rosenblum’s critique of Chaim Eliav’s (Better known as “Moshe Grylak”, Mishpacha editor in chief) article about the Chassidishe drug dealers who got arrested in Japan.

In short – a few weeks ago some Chassidishe bochurim were lured in a drug scheme, and ended in a Japanese jail.
A little later, Eliav/Grylak writes an article saying that for the very least, these bochurim should have been far more cautious, and were probably thrilled by the adventure. But –now get ready for this- we should not worry about a thing: our system is absolutely perfect; we educate our children simply perfectly, and in our book, there isn’t even a scintilla of danger that anyone of “us” would ever get caught in such dire a situation. So how did it still happen? Drum roll, thunder, lightning; Merlin waves his magic wand, out of the hat jumps a bunny to tremendous applause: they weren’t real haredim! Wow! The Brisker Rav himself couldn’t have come up with a better chiluk!
Jonathan Rosenbloom wrote a surprisingly sobering article saying that we can’t go anymore pretending that it’s all blue skies forever darling, and that every problem will forever be swept under the rug with one idiotic teiretz after the other.

In sharp contrast, Avi Shakran produces yet another masterpiece of con, this time defending Argiprocessors. Although a member of the club that holds Lubavitch to be bigger cofrim than Christians, Alchemists, Wiccans and Voodoo combined together, when it turns into a haredim vs. the Delusional Solidarity of Lunatic Leninist Jews (led by Uri Ltzedek, PETA, YCT and other institutions of mentally crippled and emotionally unstable clowns – the same ones who claim that New-Caledonian Macaques can be converted to Judaism by teaching them “abracadabra”, “open sesame” and “shalom alechem”) issue, Agri are instantaneously bleached from all their crimes.

For Shafran, the fact that some 400 illegal immigrants were apprehended at Agri is probably no proof of any wrongdoing. In fact, dina demalchusa dina is not really applicable here, since Agri is located more than ten tfochim above US soil, which absolves them from US law, of course. And we know for a fact that those 400 jobs did not come at legitimate US citizens’ expense, since US citizens refuse to do dirty jobs. Besides, they’re anti-Semites. And it would be absolutely impossible to get 400 frum workers, besides it wouldn’t make any difference at all. Besides, everyone else does it. (This is in fact my favorite teiretz – I guess Rabbi Shafran, justifies everything else that “everyone does”…) And on and on he goes, harping endlessly on the assumption of innocence.

Shafran could have simply stated that Agri may very well be guilty of many things, however we should be careful not to rush to judgment on the word of a few demented hypocrite communist buffoons who openly advocate illegal immigration. Maybe he could have pointed out that the employment of illegal aliens is a widespread phenomenon plaguing all of the USA, and now that his bosses became aware of the problem, they will fight it tooth and nail. He could have, perhaps, pointed out that illegal immigration is detrimental to the orthodox community even more than to the entire nation. He might have suggested that Orthodox employers hire frum kids rather than rapists from El Salvador.

But he didn’t.

Maybe Shafran and his bosses have missed the news that nearly ten Orthodox Jews in Ramapo were indicted on charges of welfare fraud. When the power freaks turn on their own voters, it indicates one of two things; either that voter base is no longer important for the political prostitutes, or the situation got so bad that even the pigs from Animal Farm can’t close their eyes to it. Or a combination of both. And since the illegal worker hiring spot is happily operating under the watchful eyes of the non-corrupt Ramapo and Spring Valley police, who are busy pulling over 83 years-old grandmas for “speeding” (32 in the 30 zone) while the South-American gangsters sell dope and forged lottery under their noses. But every dog has its own day. If the Federal government and the State is no longer able to sustain the Hassidic community (read: families of 14 kids, all in private schools and outfitted in European designer clothes, big houses, everything fancy and the most expensive, with no work and no income) it won’t be able to feed the illegals for too long, either.

Bottom line is: the party is over. It won’t dawn on you in one day, but sooner or later it will. And pray it won’t be too late then, for Balack O’Bilama won’t save your sorry tusik. Instead, warn your people of the impending disaster, and instruct them that instead of $3000 shtreimlach, $600 bugaboos and $300 Gucci tichels, they'd better switch to a far more sober life - and stock up on arms and ammo.

But what do you expect from “rabbis” and “leaders” who don’t utter a peep against homosexual marriage, for fear of offending the darling politicians who hand out the benefits and peanut butter for their yeshivas?

Helter Smelter

King Oil is rising in western Sibieria, according to a recent National Geographic article. Formerly pockets of isolation and desolation, dilapidated slum-villages are now turning into thriving suburban areas. Nightclubs, museums, fancy schools, sports centers sprout in the towns. With better housing and job opportunities, they attract newcomers, and in sharp contrast with the rest of the country –the rest of Europe, in fact- there is positive population growth. The article barely pays lip service to the ecological and environmental impact of more than 70 billion barrels of crudie being exploited, often forcing out local nomadic tribes. One town even boasts a statue of an oil drop – I don’t think anyone in the Western World would get a free pass on that one. And even the fact that they are harsh on immigrants (mostly Muslims from FSU, lured by the low wages –but wages nonetheless- at the oil fields) doesn’t seem to bother the Geographic.

Of course, we here in the mighty US of A aren’t doormats either – two weeks ago ICE agents raided Agriprocessors, a kosher meatpacker in Iowa, and apprehended some 400 illegal immigrant workers. The action was carried out almost as brutally as the apprehension of 400 dangerous children from the “LSD” church, because they were severely abused by their Mormonic polygamist parents. (Side note: an American veteran sent an angry letter to the NG editor saying he worked menial jobs all his life, contrary to their claim in their article “Mexico’s Other Border”, that illegal immigrants are an absolute necessity for the survival of the USA, and that Mexico treats its illegal immigrants from the south so nicely that they’re dying of overfeeding and excessive leisure. In fact, most find this decadence so repugnant that they prefer continuing to the US, where economic hardship forces people to face a harsher –but sane- reality). So why aren’t the other 20 million illegal immigrants raided as well? Ah, you don’t understand – we just don’t want to raise their suspicion. It has absolutely nothing to do with denunciations from far-left hatemongers. A few words criticizing Agri’s slave-oppression and eco-unfriendly methods couldn’t have aroused the ire of ICE.

ICE, of course, has nothing to do with Iceland’s new aluminum smelter, amply lambasted in the Geographic’s March edition. True, the smelter and the power supply necessary to operate it have far larger ecological impact than oil drills, and Western man has already triggered an ecological disaster or two. (Mentioning that nearly all such disasters have been foisted by the USSR and its satellites is beside the point.) However, the smelter was built with all the ecomaniacs’ rules, regulations and restrictions, far, far away from any civilization. But the Geographic and its green goblins still want the smelter stopped and prevent future plants. Instead, they suggest Iceland fire up its economy by selling postcards, opening museums displaying ancient Nordic art, and promote tourism. These are all wonderful ideas, but I don’t think it could stabilize a country’s economy like aluminum production & export.

Let me please jam you with one more gem: Scientists, (genius genius emeritus, a supra-species of humans who have the undisputable right to determine what’s good for the rest of humanity – with that humanity’s money.) are hard at work in the LHC – Large Hadron Collider, a 17 mile long tunnel, some 60ft in diameter, located on the French-Swiss border. The tunnel is equipped with mega-magnets and other mammoth gizmos and computers. It is a particle collider, which scientists hope will help discover the Higgs Particle – a component of protons and neutrons whose existence is still a mystery. And what will they do once they find it? Jack. Scream eureka. Know it exists. But more seriously, the prospective discovery has no immediate goal. It would be one of the many important scientific discoveries that weren’t all that important, yet led to technological improvements- iPods, blue-ray disc etc. The article gloats about the USA finally losing its 1st place in physics, due to the LHC, yet forgets to mention any safety concerns.
The scientific community has an affinity to see the world as a mass of matter only, definable by a set of equations, completely excluding the spiritual. But G-d has an affinity to remind man that he has crossed the line in a rather tragic way. The Challenger and the Discovery space shuttles are but few examples of disastrous negligence prompted by conceit, often occurring when man forgets he’s still not big enough to “touch G-d’s face”.
And unless the mega-magnet cause an implosion of such mega-magnitude that would swallow the LHC with the twenty villages about it, you’ll never hear of its dangerous effects.
Forget all the doomsday scenarios; the mere fact of mega-magnets, unprecedented speeds and temperatures coupled with radiation and all those electro-magnetic fields are reason enough for concern. Yet the roughly 23 mi2 populated area of the LHC seems to be of no concern to anyone. But the ecomaniacs, in cahoots with the scientific establishment fight nuclear energy, and additional exploitation of natural reserves tooth and nail. Shut Indian Point, don’t drill in ANWR, don’t build new refineries.

When senator Harry Can’t Reid (but O’Bama Can Wright!) was asked to consider stopping the use of corn for biofuels (as we sleazy right-wing gun nuts been telling you, [look at end of last para], using corn for fuel drives up the price of corn – in turn, farmers grow corn instead of other basic foods, creating a shortage, obviously resulting in higher prices – and the avalanche goes on) he said he couldn’t believe there was any truth to those claims – but that he’d consider it nonetheless.

And guess who are the only ones not affected by the inflated prices? You’ve got it right – the leeches who live off welfare, foodstamps, section 8 and other government grants. They’re concerned with neither food nor oil prices. And they will invariably vote in the hand that feeds them.

The obvious conclusion is that both politicians and scientists see human beings as lab roaches. Your life means nothing to them. They’ll be kept in power by an illiterate populace that enjoys living for free, while the rest of us can drop dead as far as they are concerned. More and more rules and regulations will keep the undesirables who stand in their way weakened and vulnerable. Of course, we could rediscover local farming and start living a little more responsively. But the immediate reaction can only be tshuva and a lot of prayers. And stock up on ammo.

Chains Of Misery

Take a look at your grocery bill: dozen eggs, 4qts milk, 3lbs chicken, 2lbs tomatoes, Muenster cheese, coffee, bar of chocolate. What goes into the price you paid? Many things: raw materials, labor, transportation, - often including import costs, i.e. additional labor of shipping companies and port workers- and then again the same for all the packaging materials in which these items come, and then again the same for the distributing/marketing companies and your retailer. And it carries one more heavy item: taxes. That’s right – even though most grocery items are sales tax free, all of the above mentioned must pay their taxes – businesses and employees alike. In other words, the more taxes each employer and employee has to pay, the higher the cost of each component of your groceries and their way of reaching your hands.

Employers, of course, prefer lower-wage employees. What their shortsightedness sorely misses, is the fact that they must compensate their imaginary gain with higher taxes – public education, social benefits and the additional burden of unemployment benefits for natives who lost their jobs to immigrants. In other words, when you buy chicken, you must pay for all public services consumed by all the employees in the process: farmers, transportation, slaughterhouse, etc. Not to mention all the money that leaves the country.

Would the societal norms not push for a degree at all costs – often sponsored by the State, read: the taxpayer- and sneer at blue-collar jobs, value work ethic, integrity and honesty over fame and fortune, and would the mega-corporations be less corrupt, blue-collar wages would be all taken by natives. But since in this day and age every ignoramus who can barely spell “New York Yankees” gets some BS degree from some community college, and goes into “journalism”, “acting” or “education” –read: welfare and unemployment sucking- until the most aggressive and knavish get lucrative do-nothing, all-important bureaucratic “jobs” (examples include “director of diversity training at University of Busytown, USA” or “administrator of job satisfaction quality of the Nevermore branch of the Stargazers’ union”) with skyrocketing salaries and even more heaven-rocketing retirement packages. (Makes you wonder why we get angry at all when we hear someone say it’s a mitzvah to steal from the government…)

In short, 12 to 20 million less illegal immigrants in the USA would put that much jobs for immediate availability, cut unemployment, crime, education costs, prison and police costs, and the out-of–control welfare abuse. (Although I have a feeling that the Agudah and similar organizations fear once our brothers of Mexican origin are gone home, their constituents (i.e. Orthodox Jews) would come under scrutiny. Why this is wrong will be clarified shortly.)

An interesting item - the recent ‘housing bubble’ and its subsequent burst is tied directly to illegal immigration (as well as corruption and the Federal Reserve’s stupidity or willful blindness): the immigrants created higher demand for housing. The contractors bought up lots of properties to build condos and other cheap constructions, squeezing as many housing units on as small a property as possible. Because of the Fed’s low rates, people –entrepreneurs as well as individuals- borrowed money –money they had no clue how to give back, but hey, “the rates were low!” to buy investment houses. Those who were quick made a killing - those who came later got killed. Too many units were built, and the Mexican’s minimum wages and food stamps were not enough to cover rent, and the big mansions built on dreams and illusions went on foreclosures. What happened to the Orthodox Jewish housing market is a microcosmic mirror reflection of this.

If the illegal immigrants are ח"ו amnestized, the Orthodox community can kiss their darling politicians goodbye. The immigrants understand less, vote more, demand less, and it will be a lot easier to pull the wool over their eyes. The very arms on which dignified Rebbes and important Roshey yeshiva used to hang will stab us all in the back. “הוו זהירין ברשות שאין מקרבין לו לאדם אלא לצורך עצמן, נראין כאוהבין בשעת הנאתן ואין עומדין לו בשעת דחקו” The boots which you diligently licked will kick you in the face faster than you can say “gevald!” Goobye cheap housing! Goodbye Yeshiva freebies! Goodbye seudos Achashverosh! Goodbye shopping with food stamps while being clad in thousands of dollars in clothing! Goodbye uncontrolled building permits, grants, “congregations” and parsonage deductions!

As far as media attention goes, I don’t think the focus on Jews will grow significantly. The Skverer Rebbe doesn’t hold an exclusive patent for milking the government – there are enough people of his ilk who do at least as good a job as he does (Al Sharpton comes to mind…) The education system is corrupt enough to outweigh any and all OJ corruption. So don’t worry gentle rabbis, you don’t have to rush to inculcate our yeshivaleit with unbending honesty and integrity. The government has known for a long time what the Gecko just discovered: “If you want a lot of friends – giving away money, fffhhhooo – no’ uh ba’d ideah!” Just keep on encouraging a life of luxury and no restraint for all. But please don’t foist on us the immigration disaster. I’m not sure Mexican gangs -hardened killers, rapists and drug dealers- can be kept at bay with kol korehs, takonos, issurim and gdorim.

The war on terror, Iraq, and even the appointment of Supreme court judges – are all important issues, but in the long run will be solved, regardless of who is president. But if immigration is not solved now – you can kiss your country goodbye.

The coming Tuesday is erev rosh chodesh Adar. The Agudah issued an anouncment to daven and do tshuva on this day, in face of the situation in Erets Yisroel. It is also Super Tuesday. Daven the best candidate wins. Go out and vote. And for heaven’s sake, do the right thing.

Fool For Your Loving (No More)

I was angered and frustrated to see Harry Maryles1 endorse John McCain for president. What’s the big fuss, you may ask, who cares about a retired, self-aggrandizing busybody pompously “endorsing” this or that candidate? Why even notice him?

There are several reasons. One being the fact that Rabbi Maryles reflects the apathy, ignorance, stupidity, emptiness, but more than anything the burning desire to be “moderate”, “mainstream”, and “reasonable”, prevalent not only in Hollywood, Greenwich Village, but unfortunately in the world of Orthodox Judaism as well. And no, don’t start pointing fingers at only YU and the carbon-conscious RCA: Mishpacha magazine just published an article about the primaries – the word “immigration” wasn’t mentioned even once, and not one interviewee spoke of either Romney or Alan Keyes. What are the Jewish leaders concerned about? The “war” in Iraq, the heilige economy, and most importantly, how much freebies they can squeeze out of each candidate. It seems that Jewish “leadership” still operates by the model of “I am in the West, but my heart is in the East” – and your brains are on Jupiter, your honesty and integrity, it seems, ceased to exist altogether. Only the immediate benefit matters, the jar of peanut butter, one more buck, one more seat at the next Seudas Achashverosh, all coated with false concerns about what’s going on 3000 miles away.

Really now, are you concerned about the war? So please, tell me dear Community Leaders, Rabbonim, Shtadlonim and Askonim, what have you done to end the war sooner, to make our troops safer, to save the Marines falsely accused of murder? Have you protested the appointment of fat bureaucrats as strategists and wartime decision makers? Have you protested politicians and journalists teaming up to falsely accusing and staging Dreyfus trials for Marines? Because when Rabbis were falsely accused of child molestation you were pretty quick to react, right Mr. Shafran2 ?

As for domestic security – what steps were taken to protect schools from terrorism? Are there armed guards in our schools? Is there any emergency plan in place? Alarm system? Or have the "shtadlonim"- the selfless community volunteers lined their pockets again with our children’s safety?

Oh, but McCain is tough on national security! So tough he proposed a bill to –well, not amnestize, - but to turn 20 million “illegal immigrants” (read: the rabble that is unwanted even in Mexico, who all come here only to work hard, at jobs Americans won’t do) into honorable citizens, and to leave our borders wide open. For we know, of course, that Arab Terrorists are too stupid to enter the country via Mexico or Canada. Besides the fact that our staunch allies, the governments of the aforementioned countries, wouldn’t allow terrorists on their soil. Besides, terrorists trying to infiltrate the country is a conspiracy theory invented by extremist right-wingers. That’s why we need strong national security for, and will achieve it by to kissing John’s mark of Cain.

The other reason is, that Maryles presents himself as opposing “the establishment”. There can be no greater dishonesty than a self-proclaimed challenger of the establishment endorsing an establishment darling like Cain. Cain is being cajoled by the Republican party’s ultra-liberal “old girls network”, as Michael Savage calls them, in the same exact way Gerry Ford was propped up at Barry Goldwater’s detriment, Nixon and Bob Dole against Reagan. Mr. Maryles, since you’re so hell bent on winning the war on Iraq, can you please teach us who, in your opinion, is better disposed to do this job? In case you don’t know, Dr. Maryles, there are now more contractors than troops in Iraq, our troops are bound by irrational rules of engagement and have to fear for their lives from terrorists as well as politicians and journalists trumping up false charges against them. Is John Cain, part and parcel of the Republican Aristocracy with an extremely leftist vote record, more likely to challenge the Iraqi status quo than Romney, an outsider to the oligarchy?
Who, in your opinion, Rabbi Maryles, is a better candidate to put a halt to the endemic welfare abuse and corruption ubiquitous practically everywhere? Rubber-cheeked Cain, knight of the Re-Pub-Li-Clan or Romney, who built his fortune with his own hands (as opposed to the war-hero adulterer who inherited his fortune from his wife?) Why, Rabbi Maryles, I thought you were against parasites bending over their gmoras and living on government handouts! Who, according to your estimates, would better fight terrorism – a man who opposes the horrible torture of waterboarding (almost like the Gas chambers) even terrorists, or Romney, whose greatest crime is being a Mormon?

Rabbi Maryles, Agudath Israel, RCA, UJA, JCC; is there anything, anything, in the world – your honesty, decency, integrity and good judgment - you wouldn’t sacrifice on the altar of Centrism and moderation? Or are you just trying to endorse the most likely candidate and then gloat “I told you so!”?

Let’s daven our Gentile neighbors aren’t as stupid as us Jews, and despite their Brittney Spears3 canonizing media will elect the only candidate in whom we at least can have a faint hope to pull this country together again.

Remember when that fella’ Noah S. Feldman went to the Noo Yawn Timz and told ‘em how the intolerant Jooz don’t want to save Goyim’s lives on Shabbos? Rember how the entire MO establishment was set in motion, over 7463 frenzied articles were published: “yes we do!” “dada Feldman! You iz da liar, not we iz da liar!” (Notice how Harav Hagaon Dr. Norman Lamm SHLIT”A disingenuously stated that intermarriage is the step which definitely cuts off a Jew from his Nation and heritage, conveniently forgetting what he wrote before, namely that “Reform is not a legitimate form of Judaism yet is valid” – knowing full and well that Reform recognizes mixed marriages and their conversion standards are lower even than those of Marc Angel. But that’s not the issue now.) The real issue is that the Agudah and the RCA know very well what is important for them. While they have enough time on their hands to issue meaningless declarations for or against evolution, global warming and such petty idiosyncrasies, they never say a word that could ever offend any politician. When is the last time you heard a psak forbidding the employment of illegal immigrants? Wouldn’t it be better to employ “at risk kids”, dropouts or kids who can’t learn (either Yeshiva or HS) instead of Mexican gangbangers? Or do the elites in YU who hold academic “jobs” paid by taxpayers, really look down on the “proletariat” who build their houses, cook their food and sell them their goods? Why don’t they care the workers lose their jobs to illegals? (All this while accusing Yeshivaleit of looking down on baalei batim!) Will any bais din have the guts to pasken whether fraudulently obtaining government assistance of any kind is considered “מוסר ממון ישראל ביד עכו"ם”– delivering a Jew’s money to the Gentile authorities? But back to the initial subject: where are the champions of humanitarian concern, diversity, tolerance and equality when border patrol agents Ramos and Compean rot in jail for the crime of doing their job? Where are the Nobel-Prize winning (well, almost) journalists of the tepid, vapid, mealy-mouthed Cross-Purposes who lecture us about how grateful we must be to this great nation, (to the extent that we may even be permitted to eat turkey with cranberry sauce – bshinuy, of course) while marines are accused of “massacre” for doing their job? Yes, I’m talking about the Marines led by Jeffrey Chessani who were set up by Tim McGuirk and John Murtha (you know, the one who called Marines “Nazis”, and also voted against a senate ethics committee (why?) yet Dov Bear didn’t throw a fit about it.) But there’s something you can actually do;

I just heard from a medicaid recipient, that when her child was born, she got a $15 gift card for Toys R Us. Now, in honor of her child's 1st birthday, she got another $45. Is my chanukah gelt tax deductible? Or forced charities are not deductible? Think about it: you have a co-pay. Your employer may not give you the best insurance. But every time an illegal immigrant, a hassid or slum resident poops a baby, you get to give it free nationalized healthcare, gift cards and free transportation to the doctor. We feed millions of illegal immigrants, bums, academic parasites who are an embarrassment to education and intelligence, and welfare leeches who can’t speak English but get straight A’s on their section 8 applications! Did you know that Medicaid recipients are eligible for free taxi to the doctor? That’s right. Frimmet from Monsey can git a raid viz gantz comfy taxi to Nie Yirk Sitty so hubby Chaim Mayer can sit and shmeeze in bais medrish, while Marines who lost arms and legs have to give back their sign-on bonuses.

I have a brilliant politico-economic solution: let’s send the illegal immigrants to Iraq and force the hassidim as well as other welfare-suckers to pick cucumbers and cotton and pack orders at Chaim Yankel’s Sipermurkit.
In the meantime this soldier who lost his eye and the gov’t spat in his other eye could actually receive his full sign-on bonus, instead of Yoily Herskowics buying himself a new shtraimel with foodstamps and getting a tuition break because "the rusha goyim take me off di velfare". And white kids would do some work instead of getting drunk on daddy’s credit card.

How come no one stands up against a huge cut of the population all living like leeches on the taxpayers’ backs? How come all Hassidic villages, as well as most of Fakewood are below poverty level, everyone has sec.8, single mom benefits (many frum people don’t get civil marriage), welfare, Medicaid, foodstamps, and perhaps benefits that haven’t even been yet signed into law, while the place is full of Lexuses, Suburbans, Town Cars, each house is bigger and fancier (and more distasteful) than the other. How come when these people go to the doctor’s office or get pulled over by a cop they can’t speak English, yet when they fill out welfare and Medicaid forms, Shakespeare couldn’t make a better case for himself. Did I mention cash businesses and bribe? Did I mention Mr. Frankel’s endless love of his Yiddishe brothers? He owns a few houses in Monsey, but they all house illegal immigrants from Mexico, who needless to say are the most pleasant neighbors imaginable. One family per house – well, a family of 40, that is. They’re always sober, spotless clean, and their dogs barely ever bite. The Department of Housing and Urban Development (wink-wink, nod-nod, hehehe, they know who votes them in) approves them for section 8 benefits as long as they can provide a piece of cardboard with “Hernandez” scribbled on it.

So why can’t Mr. Millionnaire Frankel rent the houses to Yidden? Because he’s too cheap to renovate them. And he also knows if the tenant loses his sec 8 eligibility (in the unlikely case a HUD inspector puts 2 Lexus and 2 Suburbans and lavish furnishings and sixteen kids together) he’ll never see a payment again. Besides, of course, the not-so small danger of one of his fellow Skvindlers just swindling the house away from him. Of course, that doesn’t bother His Exalted Holiness Maran Hagaon Haadir Hagadol Hagibor Vehanora Kvod Kudshas David Twerski SHLIT”A, whose credentials include being the son of the previous Skverer rebbe and the grandson of the one before. In fact, he has been informed of the problem numerous times, but he has a hassidus to fihr. To his credit, after 15 years of complaints he instructed the heilige Koenig brothers to shut down "T&A’s adult entertainment" on RT 59. I guess tipping went down when hassidim became the predominant customers. Now they have to stick to their "Hy-Tech auto-wreckers" insurance-defrauding business. Nebach, only two Caribbean cruises this year…

Bad news for Mr Twersky and his devout followers: some Black Moslems beat you guys! And I thought Skwer was the best at least in one area. Shame on you!

Electional Dysfunction

The jubilations of the radical far-left, the “objective” and “non-partisan” mainstream media and their rabid cohorts over the outcome of last Tuesday’s mid-term elections may not be as good for them as they may think. You probably don’t need to listen to talk radio to understand that this vote wasn’t as much about putting hardcore Socialists Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reed in power, than taking softcore liberal/socialists George Bush and his close circle of advisors and bureaucrats out of power. The American Nationalist or Conservative base just had enough of the out-of-control spending, the endless deaths of our soldiers in Iraq and the way the war was mishandled, the Mexican and Canadian borders abandoned and the people themselves ignored.

If anyone honestly thinks that the American people’s positions have shifted to the left due to Bush’s “far right” agenda, as the Communist media and their fork-tongued minions (unfortunately including some “Orthodox” Jews) would like you to believe, they need not look further than the State Ballot Initiatives, on which the vote was by and large very conservative. Different taxes, gay marriage, benefits for illegal immigrants and affirmative action were almost ubiquitously struck down. In Arizona, English was made the official language – that’s not exactly the Michael Moore/Pansy Nelosi kind of position. You can see the state-by-state results here, and decide for yourself.

In short, there is more than one way to look at the last election cycle. Whether the Republican party will succeed in purging the liberal apologists and return to real, Barry Goldwater conservatism – or better yet, a real conservative party will gain foothold in Congress and Senate, time will tell. But the Democrats staying in power definitely mean that we can forget about the white and the blue in our flag. So far, unfortunately, conservative leadership is about as concrete as Orthodox Jewish leadership.

The good news is, that it is more likely.

Monsey is up in arms about the recent traif scandal. As far as I am concerned, whoever is willing to pay double the price for half the quality and eat the tasteless KJ/Vineland chicken (how reliable is chicken from Kiryas Joel, home of the most hideous acts of fraud, embezzlement, sexual misconduct and Chilul Hashem is quite questionable, but as long as nothing has been proven I guess they have chezkas kashrus) quite deserves to have eaten traif. Especially in light of the fact that Shop Rite, which doesn’t employ illegal immigrants, is a lot cheaper – and they whine about tuition. The majority of the Frum world has abandoned an established American enterprise, - a decent and respectable one, offering a superior quality product for a reasonable price. And while you were eating tarfus in the name of higher kashrus standards, many real professional and G-d fearing shochtim were laid off, and a great company had to shrink to a fifth of its original size.

But when a month ago six women were shot in Seattle, WA – one killed – you didn’t bulge. The treacherous Jewish Press barely mentioned the incident, and the two pseudo-frum rags almost totally ignored it. You didn’t call for action to close the borders; to pressure your politicians to enforce tougher immigration and screening procedures. You did not establish armed protection for your shuls. You refuse to admit that it’s Berlin of 1933 all over again. You are busy buying a new fancy car and building a new fancy house but you won’t spend three to five hundred dollars on a firearm. You won’t join the Minutemen or the militia. You won’t write your congressman or senator, and you won’t pressure your rabbi to protect you. You won’t demand the Agudah to pressure their politicians to protect you against terrorism. You’ve got better things to do.

Notorious child molesters haven't been run over or lynched. You have put your own children in their hands to fulfill their evil desires, and watched idle. You are just as guilty as they are.

While you organize public dish kasherings, take some time to kasher your hearts and brains, lemmings.

Our leadership has forsaken and betrayed us – with our collaboration, because we haven’t held them responsible for their positions and accountable for their deeds.

As we’re speaking, rockets are falling into Israel by the dozens. After years and years of begging, pleading and caving in to their Arab brothers for peace, after giving in to demand after demand, it seems that they are finally learning the hard way that there is no pact with the devil. If it weren’t an utterly disgusting comparison, I’d venture to say that it reminds of how Stalin was stabbed in the back by Hitler. But slapped in the face they were, again and again by those with whom they dreamed to co-exist in peace and harmony. As a side note, I’d like to make the observation that the Hebrew term for coexistence, “du-kiyum”, translates literally into double-existence. And double-exist they must, on two sides of a wall truncating the frail country in its middle. A wall which cannot prevent Kassam rockets from flying above it, but at least sixteen year old boys with explosive belts can’t cross it (except where the Wall is missing due to violations of an olive tree’s human rights).

There is another wall, which proved far more durable and more effective, as it does not prevent prayers from flying above it to their intended destination. That is where rivers of tears have been shed for salvation, both personal and communal, and that is where now thousands of Jews gather to pray for their brothers’ and their own peace and salvation. That is where in tragic times Jews of all affiliation pray side by side. And the mere fact that Jews unite only when struck by tragedy is a tragedy – Jews should always pray together, and there should never be schism or separate communes.

Yet another wall, in its embryonic stage, is planned along the Mexican-American border. Its construction is not anymore a question of if but where. That wall would keep out drug smugglers, arms and gang contraband, infiltration by terrorists, and illegal invaders. You may raise an eyebrow at the definition, but the not-so concealed objective of the Mexican leadership

is to re-establish their alleged ancestral homeland of Aztlan, ancient site of the Incas and Aztecs, which, according to Mexican nationalists, spread from current day Mexico’s southern border to the northern borders of California, Nevada, Utah, Wyoming, Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, Texas and Oklahoma. A good third of the USA. But we need no electrolysis to separate myth from history, and we can reassure you with utmost confidence that the Mexicans’ ancestral land is not Aztlan, but traditionally anti-Semitic and Hitler’s WWII ally, Spain. To their credit we will not hide from you that despite their alliance with Hitler, the ancestral home of the Inquisition actually hosted a large number of Jewish refugees during the war. But today they are at the forefront of the EU’s anti-Israel incite-media, and host to some of the most vile Der Stürmer-esque cartoons. And the Mexican immigration advocacy groups are ferociously anti-Semitic, and dead serious about taking back what they claim is theirs. As serious as the Palestinians. The people behind this ideology are not mere fringe loons; prominent politicians, professors, councilmen and local officials who make little effort to hide their nationalistic aspirations.


The Minutemen who initiated the projects to build the wall, and effectively brought its urgency to Congress and Senate, are still trying to rally more people to support their clause. And the spontaneous spur of websites, Internet groups and nationwide protests indicates that the American public is indeed very concerned about out of control immigration. Yet flying in the face of the hostile mainstream media and political environment is not easy – the proposition to build the wall was struck down at the Senate level. Unfortunately, the Minutemen leadership left out maybe the most important component from their struggle: unity. A good example is the “portgate” affair, wherein several major US ports’ management was offered for sale to a Dubai company. But as soon as the news came out, an unprecedented roar of opposition rose in unity, in spite of president Bush’s strong desire to complete the sale. For the first time in history, Rush Limbaugh disagreed with Bush, Michael Savage didn’t call anyone names, David Horowitz and Patrick Buchanan didn’t write articles against each other; - the alternative media unanimously condemned the sale. Republicans and Democrats opposed the sale as one; and though one might argue that the Democrats did so only to score points against Bush, their fervent opposition to close the border and approval of Bush’s call for amnesty indicates that that may not always be the case. Even the usually pro-Arab, anti-nationalist mainstream media reported unfavorably about the proposed sale. All either understood the potential dangers of letting such sensitive national assets in the hands of a company from hostile nations, or understood that the American public is so opposed to the sale that approving it would mean political or business suicide.

Unfortunately, the wall does not enjoy such widespread patronage. Albeit many talk show hosts pretend to endorse it, they de-facto prevent it, by refraining from forming similar unity. They all complained about the Senate sabotage of the wall – the day after the vote. But where were their rallying voices, calls for action and sanctioning the senate bill before the vote? Unfortunately, the patriotic right wing has again failed to unite by each individual putting his own gain before that of his country. With just a bit of collaboration, Simcox, Tancredo, and Co. could easily establish a highly effective web-based collaboration system that would keep all anti-immigration sites connected and informed, and in turn inform the common people about activities in their areas as well as Congress/Senate activities. Sadly, they have failed –or refused- to do so.

Even more sad is that the Jewish community seems to be totally silent and in complete denial of the issue. Not only because it is an urgent matter of national security, but because Jews are affected by immigration more than anyone else. The terrorists coming in from Mexico target Jews primarily. The Mexican Reconquista movement is ferociously anti-Semitic, and the vast majority of Jews are unarmed. The growing immigrant population will soon outweigh the political importance of the Jewish community. The immigrants are sucking up the social services faster and faster, and at a certain point there won’t be enough for everyone – you figure out who will be dropped first. And if that wall isn’t built soon enough, it will have to be built much further north, along the northern borders of California, Nevada, Utah, etc. Losing a third of our territory would be a severe national disaster, and what would happen to the residents -especially the Jewish communities- in newly re-conquered Aztlan is anyone’s guess. And the ensuing nationwide unrest wouldn’t benefit the Jews either. We need look no further than Israel, and what happened immediately after the withdrawals from Gaza, Judea, Samaria and Lebanon. Walls have to be built before losing territory. But retaining territory and building a wall require will. And I fear we don’t have it.

I wonder whether the various Jewish organizations attending the Annual Glatt Kosher Dinner in Shushangton, D.C. ever bring up subjects of general, national interest, or the stuffed-turkey face-stuffing is invariably followed by pocket-stuffing only? For just as Congress and Senate represent the interests of their direct constituents far more than the collective good of the American people, so too these Jewish organizations cater first and foremost to the groups who sent them, rather than the collective good of the Jewish people - and this is a very cautious and euphemistic way to put it. Perhaps if we would demand more of them - higher national security, lower taxes, push for the voucher program etc., we’d see better results. Maybe we’d be better off making sure that our delegates care for our well-being. Maybe we’d be better off taking our heads out of the sand. Maybe instead of schnorring another jar of peanut butter for our Yeshivas and a few more dollars of foreign aid to Israel -who must learn to stand on its own feet and boot its oppressive Stalinist government- we should demand more security, less taxes and less immigrants.

And more leadership in the Jewish community.
